School Admissions

  • Nelmes Primary School Admissions

Nelmes Primary School is a two form entry primary school with a published admission number of 60 children for each year group.

In the term prior to you making an application for your child’s entry to our Reception class, we arrange group tours of the school where parents/carers can meet the Leadership team, members of the Governing Body and tour the school during a normal working day. These are advertised throughout the Autumn term on our school website and on the local authority website. These tours gives parents/carers a real feel for our school and allows you to make an informed judgment about your school choices. Please note we do not provide individual tours.

Nelmes Primary School admits pupils according to the admissions policy of the London Borough of Havering. The link below will take you straight to the local authority website where all on-line applications can begin.

The admission criteria for Nelmes Primary School

Children with an Education Health and Care Plan are processed outside of the normal admissions arrangements.

When the demand exceeds the number of places available at the school, places are allocated by applying the following criteria in descending order of priority to applicants who have expressed any preference for the school.

1. Looked after children and children who were looked after.

2. Exceptional medical or exceptional social grounds

3. The attendance in September of the year of admission at the school of a brother or a sister

4. The distance of the home address from the school, as measured by a straight line from the school, those pupils living nearer the school being given higher priority.

We hold an information evening in June for those parents/carers who are offered and accept a place at our school. This evening event includes; a presentation given by the leadership team and our Chair of Governors and an opportunity to meet the Reception team and your child’s class teacher along with a visit to our Reception classes. You can also purchase uniform at this event.

Your child will then be given a date to come in and meet their teacher and also the date and time they start school, in the September.
